This was the very first MPH model, of the winning Ecurie Ecosse long nosed D type.
Jaguar had a wonderful record at Le Mans in the fifties. The C types triumphed in 1951 and 1953, the D type very nearly won first time out in 1954 , coming second by only a minute and a half. In 1955/6/7 the D types performed their hat trick.
For the second year in succession the Scottish team triumphed, leading home, on a red letter day for Jaguar, no less than 5 D types in the first 6.
Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb drove this winning car, averaging 113.85 mph, with both gaining their second wins.
