The Spitfire had never really appealed, but the stylish straight 6 engined "Mini E type" was a different kettle of fish.
Silky smooth power delivery was one of its greatest assets, and although of similar size and power to the MGB, it felt a lot quicker.
The Achilles heel, though, was the swing axle rear suspension. Driven sensibly, however, it went very well. I even completed a lap of the Nurburgring, en route to a holiday in Italy, without putting it through a hedge !
