I had a wonderful Whit weekend in 1966. The weather was perfect and I got to race at the full Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch on the Saturday, followed by Goodwood on the Sunday.
I had been going to Goodwood as a spectator from an early age, with my parents, and had always had the ambition to race there myself.
Little did we know that the circuit would close for racing a few weeks later, so I was a very lucky boy indeed.
Furthermore, for the first and last time in my very brief and undistinguished racing career, I was paid starting money (£10!)and also prize money, for a third place in class (also £10 !)
